The Nichigo Golf Resort is situated along the River Kwai Yai, the larger of the 2 Kwai Rivers, about 30 minutes North of the provincial capital. There is welcome peace and spaciousness about the Nichigo course. The 27 holes (Lake, River and Mountain courses) are perfectly fitted into the spectacular landscape of Kanchanaburi.

For many golfers visiting Thailand the charm of a course is just as important as the technical challenge; Nichigo combines both. The exotic site along the river, the mountainous landscape, as well as abundant tropical gardens all add to the charm. The many dog legs, side hill and up hill fairways, and well bunkered greens add to the course difficulty.

Always well maintained, challenging, and eye catching, this golf course is the best in Kanchanaburi. Be sure to check out the replica of the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, a great spot for some memorable poses to show the friends back home. It is located between hole number five and six.

Unique among golf courses in Thailand and environmentally friendly, the fairways use imported Noshiba grass from Korea that does not require any pesticides to maintain a high qulaity standard year round. The greens covered with Bermuda Tif dwarf, are usually of good speed, and the subtle undulations add to the putting challenges.

The on-site resort has seen better days and is best avoided in favor of one of the many resorts in town. Also, the club house and restaurant is quite spartan, so it is best to buy your supplies and plan on eating elsewhere after your round.

In spite of the lack of off course amenities, Nichigo is still an excellent golf course and is a great play for both the recreational and single digit handicapper. Be sure to include it on all River Kwai golf tours.

The second nine, the Quarry Course features a forty-foot gorge with shale cliffs, ponds and waterfall make this natural course a truly unique experience with the final three holes along Lake Michigan. “GOLFWEEK” selected the Links/Quarry 43rd among “America’s 100 Best Modern Courses” for 1997, 61st for 1998 and 33rd for 1999. “GOLF Magazine” chose the same combination 8th in the 1998 category of “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S.”
